Greenburn School
An outstanding school for children with additional support needs

Hydrotherapy Pool

We have two Hydrotherapy pools within our school and our pupils with motor difficulties make use of the pools on a weekly basis. We also visit the Community Pool in East Kilbride . As well as learning to swim, making use of the pools encourage our pupils in other areas such as:

  • Dressing and undressing skills
  • Independence
  • Communication
  • Sensory Integration
  • Levels of confidence and awareness of different surroundings

Computer Pods

We have computer pods in every classroom with touch screens. This enables us to have more flexibility and we can easily move the screens closer to the children.

Interactive White Boards

We have these boards in every classroom and among other things, they are used as virtual timetables using boardmaker symbols. This enables the children not familiar with the written language to understand on a daily basis what timetable they are working on. We have a ‘now and then' timetable enabling the children to understand what they are working on, and what will come next, again giving them independence in their school day.

Soft Play

Our soft play area is a place to let off steam!

Sensory Room

Our Sensory room helps to develop and promote sensory motor skills, lots of lights and cushions, the perfect setting for activities such as ‘skin dancing'.
